② Designs pursuing citizens’ happiness

  • Improving the quality of life of citizens by improving public design
  • Increase international status by spreading design culture

DCB encouraged public design projects related to culture, education, and safety to solve local problems by design, improving citizens' quality of life, and to convey the value and necessity of public design.

◆ Improving public design to revitalize tourism in Busan
As a project to standardize tourist information signs, standard tourist information signs in Busan were installed. More than 900 tourist information signs were replaced and installed throughout Busan Metropolitan City and within urban railroads, and the development of conduction designs in Busan Metropolitan City and 16 districts was completed.

◆ Urban regeneration New Deal with crime prevention design
DCB carried out an urban regeneration new deal project that applied crime prevention design. Areas selected for the Urban Regeneration New Deal project usually had poor transportation environments, many CCTV blind spots, or poor commercial districts. Accordingly, the Busan Design Promotion Agency conducted a project to create a safe village in Banyeo 3-dong, Haeundae-gu, Busan, and Gupo 2-dong, Buk-gu, and is seeking to improve the design of a crime prevention environment in a studio area near Jangjeon 1-dong, Geumjeong-gu. In addition, through CCTV installation and alleyway road maintenance in Yeonsan 8-dong, Buk-gu, Deokcheon-dong, Buk-gu, and Ewhajeong Pavilion in Buk-gu, Ulsan, it helped residents to enhance the dignity of the city.

◆ Globalization of Busan design
DCB held Busan Design Week and 2021 Busan International Design Awards (IBDA), the first design exhibition in Busan. As a result, 12,000 visitors visited the Busan Design Week, where more than 200 brands participated, and 1,486 pieces (about 26% of overseas works) from 18 countries were submitted to the 2021 Busan International Design Awards drawing significant attention.

In addition, as a member of the International Design Association (ICoD) and the World Design Organization (WDO), DCB held the Busan International Design Forum and the World Design Organization Video Conference, solidifying its global network and enhancing Busan's international status.
