2022 Busan International Design Awards (IBDA) held

 

• Total prize money of KRW 50.3M including KRW 15M won in the grand prize
• Service design division established, special theme contest for 2030 Busan World Expo
• The online application for the 2022 Busan International Design Awards (IBDA) hosted by the Design Council Busan will be held from February 4 to May 7.

The Busan International Design Award is a design contest held for the 4th time this year, inheriting the history of the Busan Industrial Design Exhibition that started in 1981. Since last year, in connection with Busan Design Week, it has been playing a key role in design industry exchanges beyond countries and regions so that Busan can grow into a global life style city.

There are 6 categories of participation: ▲Communication Design ▲Service Design ▲Product Design ▲ Environmental Design ▲Craft Design ▲Fashion Design. In particular, since this year, the service design field has been newly established to recruit new ideas for social innovation and the realization of shared values.

In addition, the Busan International Design Awards opened a special theme for the ‘2030 World Expo’ to spread the atmosphere of national participation to attract the ‘2030 World Expo’ to Busan. Expo-related topics such as architectural design, Busan urban landscape design, Busan’s new city BI, Busan World Expo brand design, promotional posters, webtoons, and videos are open to all, regardless of nationality and age.

The winners of the Busan International Design Awards are awarded certificates, plaque, and prize money of KRW 15M, and the total prize money is worth KRW 50.3M. The submitted designs can receive support for product registration and sales at the Asian Design Platform (ADP), where design resources can be exchanged. In addition, the Design Council Busan provides professional consulting for intellectual property protection and intellectual property application costs to the winners of the award. If a company wins an award, additional points are given when supporting the business support project operated by the Promotion Agency, and the winning work (product) is supported to use the IBDA (International Busan Design Award) certification mark.

Artwork submissions are accepted online from the official website of the Busan International Design Awards (https://adp.dcb.or.kr/ibda/submit) from February 5 to May 7. The awards ceremony and exhibition of winning works will be held on June 9 at the Busan Design Week event site (BEXCO 1), a comprehensive design exhibition.
