DESIGN COUNCIL BUSAN and CJ Group speeds up to foster Busan leading design integration star start-ups

The DESIGN COUNCIL BUSAN, a non-profit organization, has been promoting a start-up leap package support project that combines design since 2015 to help start-up companies grow. This project is a representative government-led start-up support project dedicated to the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the DESIGN COUNCIL BUSAN is designated as the only operating institution in the Busan area.

In 2022, a total of 700 start-up companies will be selected from 18 operating institutions nationwide, of which about 30 will be selected by the DESIGN COUNCIL BUSAN.

Selected start-up companies can receive up to 300 million won and an average of 120 million won in commercialization funds, as well as various programs such as design-thinking oriented consulting to promote start-ups.
The DESIGN COUNCIL BUSAN focuses on providing a foundation for promoting stable businesses with products that can lead the market by increasing the design level of start-up companies according to the characteristics of the institution.

Out of the 30 companies selected by the DESIGN COUNCIL BUSAN, 10 will be selected by CJ group for a collaboration program aimed at the success of start-ups. DESIGN COUNCIL BUSAN will overcome the difficulties of securing and growing markets due to lack of internal and external capabilities of start-ups by establishing a continuous mutual cooperation growth network by utilizing the scale of economy, global distribution networks, large-scale R&D of large companies and flexibility, agility, and high R&D efficiency of start-up companies while planning to establish a network of continuous mutual cooperation and shared growth.
Kang Pil-hyun, president of the DESIGN COUNCIL BUSAN, said, "The CJ Group, a global living and cultural company with a global status, has been applying high-quality designs to corporate activities, winning the 2020 Korea Design Management Awards. Based on CJ Group's capabilities, technology, and know-how, we plan to foster start-up companies to play a major role in Busan's growth as a global design city which 2030 World Expo is just around the corner" he said.
